CKCU Funding Drive
My next radio show will be this Sunday Oct 9, 11:30 am - 1 pm. CKCU FM 93.1 or www.ckcufm.com.
And, we are moving into that part of the year that we all know and love so well: CKCU Funding Drive! The station depends for a large portion of its budget on community donations, and you are all members of the community now! The goal is to raise $100 000. This is a doable goal, but we need your help.
I am asking all of you for help and support for this Ottawa institution to some extent. We’re celebrating the station’s 30th birthday this fall. It refreshes the parts that other stations cannot reach. The station provides not just great folk music, but also spoken word, non-english cultural programming, and specialty music shows like ours that play music not found on other stations.
Although donations of $20 or more are much appreciated, no donation is too small. I will take $5. I will take $2. Look at me… I have no shame… I am begging for cash… help me out!
All donations will receive a tax receipt.
You can either pay your pledge right now, in cash or credit card. Or, if you don’t have the cash today, you can simply pledge and the station will contact you by mail after the drive is over (likely mid-November) to settle up.
Details on how to support me follow.
The funding drive kicks off in a couple of weeks, but I am soliciting for pre-pledges right now. If you pledge through me then your name will still be announced on the air along with everyone else, but your pledges will be there at the start to help encourage other listeners to donate. These pre-pledges help us out tremendously in generating the enthusiasm that gets the ball rolling.
And if all of this is a bit too abstract for you, then think of it as sponsoring my show directly. If you think it’s kind of cool and want to support me then please spare a coupla bucks.
I know you are thinking that this is a great opportunity and you are wondering how to proceed. Through the magic of blogging I can take your pledge online! Just leave a comment on this entry that identifies you and your pledge amount. If you wouldn’t mind emailing me your address and phone number (unless I already have it) that would be great. Or if you’d just rather call me or email me the whole shebang that’s cool too. (If you want to use a credit card let me know and I’ll arrange to get the number from you off-net.)
Please keep me on the air. Send money now. Thanks.
