Our New House!

Well ladies and gentlemen… We have a home!

We won’t be moving in until the springtime, and the offer is still conditional on our home inspector giving the seal of approval, but we’re very happy to have found this cute little house!

Some more photos are under the cut. And yes, Stittsville folk, this house IS in the glebe!

Kitchen — we are keeping stove and fridge

Kitchen — from living room

The living room

More of the living room (from the kitchen)

The dining nook (think of spinning right from the last photo)

Heading up the stairs (taken from front door)

Cute bathroom

Colin’s Office

Our bedroom

Your bedroom

We don’t have a huge amount of land, but we certainly have enough backyard space to enjoy a barbeque and we have 2 parking spots next to the house. I will defer to Jen for a description of the gardening opportunities which are modest but have potential.

Our basement is a storing-in basement rather than a living-in basement, but it is mould-free and I am not allergic to it. The current occupant is storing clothes down there so it is certainly good enough for that! It is just high enough for me to stand in. Part of the basement has a dirt floor but it seems to be OK enough as is, and I will likely try to at least seal it with vapour barrier. The owner reports no flooding there.

Generally speaking, the place will give us incrementally more space than our current apartment, but it is better laid out for us, and it will be our own! And we won’t have to leave the Glebe!

Andrew is excited about our Gambrel Roof.

YAY!

I am also excited about the Gambrel Roof! And the coming over and seeing your home when you move in. And even about helping you move. :)

Congratulations on your cute new home.

My Office

By the way- I have an office too- they just didn't put a picture of it on the real estate website because it isn't very big. Actually- I have to admit that the person living there now is using it as a walk in closet, On the plus side they are leaving their built in shelves. Woohoo!

Truthfully, I like small offices. Must be from all of those years spent sitting in library study cubicles.

Whee!

Congratulations! It looks like a lovely home. :) Looks like all the rooms get a reasonable amount of sun, which is really nice.

I also would love to help you guys move, if I'm still in town when it happens.

Nice!

Looks very nice - and lots of space for tables at next year's post-Christmas Christmas. ;-)

Look forward to seeing it soon!

It is a very small world....Bob and I very nearly bought our first house on Newton Street,,,just down a bit from yours. Remember...we do own a pickup truck...very handy for moving!
