Digiscoping

I have learned that my technique of attaching binoculars to the front of a digital camera (eclipse photos, seal photos) is actually a technique that others have spent lots of time perfecting. It seems to be called Digiscoping. The recently late Laurence Poh seems to have publicized and experimented extensively with this technique. Avast, I need to read these and other sites. I’m confident that my elastic band is not the best way to mate camera and binoculars/scope.

Various funny things

First of all, it does amuse me that you are not the only one elastic banding your camera and binoculars together and jimmying with them for extended periods of time in an effort to get your two pieces of optical equipment to merge as one- and rest assured, you are not the only one- I noticed that the digiscoping site loftily left out the 'technical details' of how this marriage between scope and camera was achieved. Very suspicious... Also- the wild jungle soundtrack on that non jungle oriented website cracked me up! :)
