Track and Tower Trail

I hear a lot of people saying that the kind of camping which involves you driving your car to an organized campground, parking on a site, and walking 300 yards to a comfort station with flush toilets isn't camping. Pshaw. Camping along highway 60 is more relaxed, granted, and the level of seclusion is obviously much lower, but I still like to enjoy a weekend of car camping at least once a year.

It's nice to have a few luxuries along, a dining shelter and a guitar are two that come immediately to mind. Anyway, the point of this blurb is that there is lots to see and do on highway 60. This shot was taken on the Track and Tower trail early in the season in 1996. Everything was green and lush, and would you believe... not too many bugs. Don't know how that happened!
